Rebels in current top two for top safety
For the second straight week, Byron Moore has found the Southeastern Conference to his liking.
The former Southern Cal defensive back visited Tennessee on Dec. 3. On Sunday, the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder from Harbor (Calif.) College wrapped up an official visit to Ole Miss.
"It was cool," Moore said. "I like their coaching staff and players and the campus was nice."
Moore, who has offers from a veritable plethora of BCS-affiliated powers, said Tennessee and Ole Miss are his "top two until the rest of my trips. But I liked what I saw."
Moore said Tennessee and Ole Miss are "even," adding that he plans to visit Ohio State on Dec. 17 and then take trips to Oregon State and LSU in January. UCLA is also in the mix for his signature.
Ole Miss, Moore said, told him he "would come in as a safety and get my chance to compete for a starting spot the first day."
Moore said he expects Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt to fly to California in January to use his one allotted in-home visit with Moore and his family.
Ole Miss wide receiver Alex Williams was Moore's player host over the weekend.
