One of the more intriguing storylines of fall camp a year ago was the progression of former major league baseball prospect Brent Brewer who was trying his hand at football after a five year layoff. Fast-forward to this August, and Brewer remains and interesting storyline. Though the reasons are much different.

This time around Brewer is more than just an interesting footnote. He's penciled in as the Vols' starting strong safety after winning the job midway through last season and in a testament to how far he's come, now considered one of the more dependable performers on the defensive side of the football.
