Lane trying to carve out spot

The crowded competition at running back won't single out a name at the top of the depth chart in the near future, if it does at all.

Marlin Lane said like practice, and like Tennessee's upcoming scrimmages, everybody will get a chance in what may be a running back by committee outcome once the season starts.

"We're all competing to get the job done, as well as getting a spot and taking care of business for the season," Lane, Tennessee's 5-foot-11, 205-pound sophomore running back said after practice Thursday.
