Typically, my first column of the season has been about the hype and the pageantry of the Vols, comparing the campaign's start to being at the top of a roller coaster after a long summer of climbing the tracks.

But the fact is this past week has been dominated by news of what the Vols don't have more than what they do have.

Now, before you close out this column because you don't want to hear anymore about Da'Rick Rogers, hang on. Don't run off, because this column is not anything about the Vols' departed leading receiver from a year ago. Rogers is gone and it's beyond time to move on.
