Vols vs. Georgia St.: The Match-up
Rob Lewis
VolQuest.com This week seems like a perfect set-up for Tennessee (1-0), facing an FCS opponent in Georgia St. (0-1), after a resounding opening day win and just in front of a huge showdown with Florida. It's a week to make some strides in areas identified for improvement coming out of the opener and should provide a chance for some young players to see the field.
Let's take a look at this week's match-up, which is one that's overwhelmingly in Tennessee's favor.

After tearing through what was an allegedly solid NC State secondary in the first week the Vols don't have any draft stock to destroy this week in the Panthers' defensive backfield. Georgia St. surrendered 300 yards and three TD's through the air in the opening loss to South Carolina State. Junior cornerback Demarius Matthews is one of only four returning starters on defense. Safety Demazio Skelton was the second-leading tackler (65) on the defense in 2011.

The majority of the offensive highlights in week one were the result of the passing game and the fireworks will continue this weekend. Tyler Bray showed vastly improved patience in the opener while throwing for 333 yards. Even without Da'Rick Rogers, the Vols WR's look formidable. This should be a great chance for Cordarrelle Patterson to get polish up his grasp of the playbook. Ben Bartholemew (two catches) was a pleasant surprise at tight end last week.
