Vols' hoops commit talks visit

Tennessee's basketball recruiting efforts have picked up some definitive momentum in the last week, but the first member of the 2013 class to actually take the plunge with Cuonzo Martin and the Vols actually did so more than nine months ago. That man, point guard Travon Landry, made his official visit to Knoxville this past weekend.

Landry (6-foot-0, 175 pounds), who is playing his senior year at Huntington Prep in Huntington, W. Va., gave Tennessee a verbal commitment last December, and nothing has happened to make him waiver in that decision.

Certainly nothing he saw this weekend gave him reason to doubt his choice.

Tennessee fans were thrilled with the two most recent commitments, which came down last Monday when Robert Hubbs and A.J. Davis both verbaled to the Vols. Snagging Hubbs, an in-state prospect and the No. 12 rated player in the nation, was a particular coup for Martin.

It was also welcome news for Landry, who is already excited about the prospect of being part of a talented squad starting in 2013.
