Back to basics on defense

VolQuest.com It's impossible to say when a 'perfect' time for an open date during the college season might be, but on the surface, this looks like a pretty good week for Tennessee to catch it's collective breath and get back to basics. On the defensive side, that means one thing above all else, lots of work on tackling.
There's nothing as fundamental to defensive play as sound tackling. Needless to say, if Saturday's 51-44 loss at Athens is still fresh in you mind, then the image of the Vols missing numerous tackles as Georgia runners bolted through wide swaths of open field is one that's been replayed over and over.
That's even more true for the Tennessee players, who were still feeling the disappointment of falling just short on the road against the No. 5 team in the nation this weekend.
