Vols return to floor tonight

Tennessee (3-1) gets back on the hardwood after a lengthy break in the early season schedule, welcoming Oakland (2-4) to Thompson-Boling Arena tonight (tip-off at 7:00 p.m.). The Vols will be looking for some measure of revenge against the visitors, who are riding an unlikely two game winning streak in this series.

Oakland, based in Rochester, Mich. right outside of Detroit, rocked the Vols 89-82 in Knoxville in 2010 in what was a real upset. Last year's 89-81 home win wasn't quite the same kind of shocker, but it was a stinging loss for the Vols nonetheless.

The circumstances of tonight's meeting are different on multiple levels than when a road-weary Tennessee team traveled to Oakland last November. Not only were the Vols in the very early stages of adjusting to Cuonzo Martin and a brand new system; the Vols had also just returned to Knoxville from the Maui Invitational before heading north for a game two days later.
