Tennessee tuned up for a big meeting with Georgetown later this week by dispatching Oakland 77-50 on Monday night, showing early-season improvement in several key areas. One of those areas is at point guard, where Trae Golden has gotten off to a hot start.

The consensus in the offseason coming from the staff, and specifically Cuonzo Martin, was that Golden had made considerable strides in transforming himself from more of a scorer into a legitimate point guard.

Through four games that assessment is being borne out on the court.

Oakland isn't the stiffest competition the Vols are going to see, but that shouldn't totally detract from the manner in which Golden dissected them tonight while almost flawlessly running the Vols offense.
