Vols lose ugly at Georgetown

WASHINGTON, D.C. --It was the type of game to make a basketball purist cringe on Friday night as Tennessee (4-2) fell to Georgetown (5-1) 37-36 in the SEC/Big East Challenge. The Vols endured one of their worst offensive outings of the shot-clock era, yet amazingly, had the ball and a chance to win in the final seconds.

Tennessee had two cracks at the winning bucket after Georgetown's Otto Porter threw the ball away with :23 remaining, but couldn't generate a good look and failed connect on two long distance attempts. Skylar McBee was off the mark on a step-back three with :05 left and following an offensive rebound, Jordan McRae saw his desperation attempt clank off the back-iron at the final buzzer.
