Defensive coordinator John Jancek admits his viewing of the Vols defense from this past season has been limited to just a couple of games that he has watched while traveling from one school to another on the recruiting trail.

Jancek is spending part of the dead period further watching arguably the worst defense in Vol history. But that the past isn't his focus.

"We are not going to look back to last year," Jancek said. "We are going to be positive. We are going to identify our needs and address our issues. We are going to try and progress forward every day. We are going to take it one day at a time. Have a championship mentality and move forward.

"I haven't watched a lot of film. I have watched a couple of games. I know we have some work to do and it's going to be a great challenge. It's certainly an opportunity for me and our defensive coaching staff. Tennessee is a great place. We have great support around us. We have all that we need. So we are going to roll up our sleeves and get to work."
