Bench play pushes Vols, notes

VolQuest.com A quick glance at the final score doesn't suggest that Tennessee did anything out of the ordinary tonight in winning a tightly contested 51-47 game against Xavier. But peer just a little deeper into the box score and it quickly becomes apparent that Cuonzo Martin punched a variety of different buttons tonight in regards to his line-up on the way to his team's fourth consecutive win.
The most obvious difference in the Vols' rotation came in the form of freshman Derek Reese who got his first playing time of the season after finally getting cleared this week following offseason surgery to repair a torn labrum.
Reese played 23 minutes in the game, scored seven points and while he was just 2-of-8 from the floor and scored seven points, his two made shots were a pair of pivotal three pointers that were a crucial part of the Vols' second half comeback.
