Vols stay in bounce back mode, Rupp notes

VolQuest.com LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Tennessee went into Rupp Arena--or at least into the halftime locker room--believing that they could come out of Tuesday night's game with a win. That obviously didn't happen, but what else didn't happen is that the Vols didn't lay down in front of a hostile crowd and let a young, but talented Kentucky team walk all over them.
The bottom line is that Tennessee fell to 0-3 with the loss and has lost four straight overall. That streak, combined with three early non-conference losses has caused a dramatic re-assessment of postseason goals to say the least.
Far more importantly than that for the time being though is whether or not Tennessee can build on any of the positives they showed in Lexington. We're still at a point in SEC play where there's time for this team to become much more than an afterthought in what any veteran observer will tell you is a significantly watered-down league.
Things ease up considerably with a visit from Mississippi State on Saturday, and the Vols have an extra day to prep thanks to their Tuesday night tip.
