Vols look to end skid

Tennessee (8-6, 0-3) gets another crack at ending a losing streak that's swelled to four games today with a home date against Mississippi State (7-8, 2-1). Calling a game a 'must win' in January is a little severe, but it probably applies today for a Volunteer squad that's stumbled out of the gate badly in SEC play.

Tennessee hasn't started 0-4 in league play since a disastrous 1993-94 season. After a couple of closes misses on the road, Cuonzo Martin thinks his team is ready to get back on track.

"There's always a sense of urgency, but there's a difference between urgency and panic. For us, it's not panic-mode. The sense of urgency is there though, to get a win and get back on stride. I think this team is right there," Martin offered.

At Kentucky on Tuesday night Tennessee played well for long stretches and had the lead with just over six minutes to go in the game. The Vols couldn't close the deal though, and fell 68-62 as defensive breakdowns plagued them down the stretch.
