Branding with substance
Butch Jones didn't just take on the job of head football coach when he was hired as Tennessee's football coach in December. Whether he knew it or not, he was also hired as brand manager for the Vols.
When he took over for the Vols in December he took over a stale program that had won 5 SEC games the past three seasons, had three consecutive losing seasons and has missed a bowl game the past two seasons. Sobering as it is to hear, Vanderbilt has won more games than Tennessee in the same three-year period.
