Stokes powers Vols, more notes

NASHVILLE -- After having barely scraped by Vanderbilt 58-57 at home in the first meeting between the two teams there was little reason to think that the Vols would come to Nashville and handle the 'Dores on their home court with no trouble. But that's exactly how things worked out Wednesday night in Memorial Gym, and one very big reason why was the dominant play of Jarnell Stokes.

The sophomore has been on a tear of late, and that continued on Wednesday against the Vols in-state rivals as he recorded his sixth straight double-double with 17 point and 10 rebounds.

The Vols' season may not have taken the course to this point that many fans had envisioned back in November, but if it's any consolation, the team is playing its best basketball of the year when the games matter the most.

Tennessee picked up its second straight road win, and only its second of the entire year on Wednesday night, thanks in large part to the continued dominance of its young sophomore center.
