Will Vandy de-commit Thompson look at Vols?
Without question, the fastest rising senior basketball prospect in the state in the Class of 2013 has been Murfreesboro's Darius Thompson. He's making waves on the court while trying to lead his still undefeated high school team to a state title, but on Tuesday he made some noise off the court by de-committing to Vanderbilt.
Thompson (6-foot-4, 180 pounds), from Blackmon HS in Murfressboro saw his recruitment pick up some serious steam in December when several high majors started taking note of his strong senior season.
Tennessee, along with NC State and others, jumped into the fray with a firm offer, but Thompson shut things down almost as quickly as they began to heat up by giving Vandy a verbal after an unofficial visit there in January.
Ironically the factor that probably worked the most in the Commodores' favor in initially landing Thompson also played a large role in his decision to open things back up.
