Box Score

Tennessee kept it's scorching hot streak alive on Tuesday, dispatching No. 8 Florida 64-58 in front of a packed house and a national television audience. It was the sixth straight victory for the surging Vols and their biggest win of the season. Most importantly, the win puts them firmly in the discussion for a coveted NCAA tournament berth.

After Tennessee (17-10, 9-6) got by Texas A&M this past weekend in a four-overtime slugfest, tonight's match-up with Gators (22-5, 12-3) took on a huge amount of added significance.

Desperately needing a 'signature win' to enhances their tournament credentials, the Vols rose to the occasion and took care of business in convincing fashion in a pressure packed situation.

After the game, Cuonzo Martin praised the Vols' defense and the helping hand provided by a boisterous home crowd.

"From the start of the game and the National Anthem, I thought the energy was great from the crowd so we appreciate that.
