Vols give back with Habitat build
You may have noticed that Thursday was a bit of a hype day around the Tennessee football program, what with the unveiling of the new uniforms creating a stir. For a good chunk of the afternoon Butch Jones and the core leaders of his football team were oblivious to the frenzy, instead quietly participating in the dedication of a Habitat for Humanity home the entire team and support staff helped construct this summer.
Both the football and men's and women's basketball teams have participated in the Habitat for Humanity program for several years running and some of the Vols taking part in Thursday's ceremony were completing the fourth building project of their career.
The low key ceremony that saw the family of Drocella Mugorewera and Jean Nkurunzizi receive the keys to their own home was a far cry from the media frenzy that engulfed the new uniforms on Thursday, but in many ways, it was a more meaningful experience for some of the Vols who participated.
