Maymon working his way back
Whether things were going or bad for Tennessee last season, the question of how a healthy Jeronne Maymon would have impacted matters hung in the air all season long.
When the Vols struggled out of the gate to the tune of 4-3, it was impossible not to wonder how a healthy Maymon would have changed the course of the season. Surely the first team All-SEC forward would have been worth a couple of points at Georgetown or Virginia, two bitterly close losses that in hindsight, had a large impact on the Vols failure to reach the NCAA tournament.
Even after the Vols turned things around and surged down the stretch with a 9-1 run in SEC play, it was hard not to wonder just how much better even a good situation could have been.
In short, whether it was the best of times or the worst of times for the basketball Vols, the sense that Maymon could have spurned them on to greater heights was a notion that never really went away, at least in the minds of fans.
