Vols roll through first exhibition
Tennessee eased by Southern Florida 105-80 in the Vols' first exhibition of the preseason Saturday afternoon, but probably got more than they bargained for in the process from an upset minded visitor.
Tennessee, which led just 47-43 at the half, still found itself in a tie game early in the second half and didn't pull away for good until well after halftime.
The Vols didn't enjoy their first double digit lead of the day until a Josh Richardson bucket put them up 62-52 with just over 13 minutes left in the game but it was all smooth sailing from that point on.
"I thought our guys did a better job in the second half of really settling down on the defensive side," Martin said of what he saw in the dress rehearsal for his squad. "What we try to do in exhibition games is run a motion offense without calling any plays. Probably the toughest offense to defend and toughest to run without calling any plays.
