Tigers lose two defenders to academics

AuburnSports.com Attrition is a part of just about every offseason and sources indicate at least two Auburn players will be ineligible for the 2007 season in sophomore linebacker Patrick Trahan and junior noseguard Greg Smith.
The loss of the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Trahan will deplete an already thin group of linebackers for the Tigers. Trahan, who played in all 13 games as a backup last season, won the starting Sam (strongside) linebacker job in the spring.
Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville even singled out Trahan in his post-spring remarks.
"Patrick Trahan had the best spring of any linebacker we've had in a while," said Tuberville.
