Duke is bad. Britney Spears at the MTV Video Music Awards bad. The Blue Devils haven't won a game since September of 2005 and a 22-game losing streak is hanging over them like the cloud that hovers above Pigpen on Peanuts.
If Duke goes winless again this season - a distinct possibility - they will have lost 32 in a row, just two games short of Northwestern's all-time 34-game record of futility, which was set from 1979-82.
But the Dookies can look at the bright side - the men's basketball team's season opener is just two months away.
Last Week
Coming off of an embarrassing 45-14 home loss to UConn, Duke played better than expected last week and lost respectably, 24-13, at Virginia. The Devils were down 17-2 at the half but showed some resilience by outscoring the Cavaliers 11-0 in the third quarter to close to within four going into final quarter. But Virginia tacked on a touchdown and Duke was unable to get off the shnide. Fullback Teilor Robinson led Duke with 31 yards rushing (not a good sign), while quarterback Thaddeus Lewis threw for 137 yards, with one touchdown and one interception.
