Seminoles beginning to gel
Slow starts and finishing flurries have become Florida State's calling card in its march to the first NCAA Tournament appearance in 11 seasons.
Yet there was something strikingly different about the 25th-ranked Seminoles in Tuesday night's 68-57 victory over Virginia.
The Seminoles dealt out eight assists on their final nine baskets in a 28-16 closing run over the final 7:41; proof that the team's "unselfish spirit" is more than Leonard Hamilton coachspeak.
Hamilton, who has espoused the unselfishness of his young basketball team since the season began, now has video proof that his team is beginning to gel. The Seminoles finished with 18 assists and just 11 turnovers against Virginia's double-teaming, trapping defense.
