Williams Holding Down The Fort, More Notes

One of the truest things that can be said of the new-look Tennessee football program is that life inside of it is a constant competition. Coaches are constantly coming up with plays to 'keep score' in drills or workouts or scrimmages and then turning around and using the results motivation.

One of the first topics Lane Kiffin generally addresses each day when he meets with the media after practice is which side of the ball 'won' that day.

On Thursday Kiffin declared that the defense had carried the day, something that has seemed to be the case more often than not in the past three weeks.

One of the biggest reasons for that state of affairs, no pun intended, is senior defensive tackle Dan Williams. The veteran has proven to not only be an immovable object in the middle of the defensive front for the most part, he's also occasionally shown himself to be an immovable object capable of making plays in the backfield.
