Senior Wazzu guard Derrick Low hit the game-clinching consecutive three-pointers to win the game for the 6th-ranked Cougars, 67-64, tover the previously undefeated Baylor Bears, at Waco, Texas. Senior forward and Texas native Robbie Cowgill enjoyed a pleasant homecoming by leading the game in scoring 18 points to help WSU remain undefeated on the year at 7-0.
The Cougars, who have made a habit of getting off to slow starts this season, opened the game with a 7-0 run, but Baylor quickly caught up and the Cougars committed an uncharacteristic 11 turnovers in the first half that helped the Bears forge a 38-26 halftime lead.
Low was held scoreless in the first half but Cowgill kept Wazzu alive, hitting 67% of his shots while junior Daven Harmeling and center Aron Baynes both scored 10 points apiece - with "Big Daddy" Baynes scoring his points in only 13 minutes of play due to foul troubles.
The Cougars remain undefeated in November games under head coach Tony Bennett - moving to 14-0.
The Cougars will next play Gonzaga at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5 at the Spokane Arena in Spokane.
