- Division I Football Committee chairperson, John McCutcheon, commenting on measures the NCAA plans to take on crowd control issues in the future.



It is tournament time at the Creek as the Pac-10 women's hoop tournament begins this week while the men are finishing up their regular season schedule.

Meanwhile, at NCAA HQ, the NCAA Division I football committee will be looking at a variety of methods of implementing crowd control and providing emergency support - should it be required - in the stands.





Oregon

In men's hoop, the Ducks defeated rival Oregon State to improve to 16-12 overall and 7-9 in conference play with a 58 RPI.



UCLA

In men's hoop, the Bruins swept Arizona State and Arizona to improve to 26-3 overall and 14-2 in conference play with an 8 RPI.



Arizona State

In men's hoop, Arizona State defeated USC but lost to UCLA to move to 18-10 overall and 8-8 in conference play with a 67 RPI.



Washington

In women's hoop, sophomore guard Sami Whitcomb was named as the conference's player of the week.



Oregon State

In men's hoop, the Beavers lost to rival Oregon to remain winless in conference play at 0-16 and 6-22 overall with a 256 RPI.



Stanford

In men's hoop, sophomore center Brook Lopez was named as the conference's player of the week.



USC

In women's hoop, junior center Nadia Parker is out for the year with a knee injury.



California

In men's hoop, the Bears were swept by Wazzu and Washington to fall to 15-12 overall and 6-10 in conference play with a 96 RPI.



WSU

In men's hoop, 22nd-ranked Wazzu defeated California but lost to Stanford to move to 22-7 overall and 10-7 in conference play with a 24 RPI.

In women's hoop, the Cougars lost to California and Stanford to fall to 5-24 overall and 2-16 in Pac-10 play with a 285 RPI.

In tennis, 36th-ranked Wazzu defeated Oregon in a non-conference match to improve to 10-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

In baseball, Wazzu swept UNLV and Wright State to improve to 7-1 overall on the season.



Arizona

In football, San Jose State linebackers coach Jeff Hammerschimdt was hired as special teams coach for the Wildcats.
