? Spring practice schedules
? NFL Draft Early Entries ? The College Football Wire Get the inside scoop on your favorite team: The year-long marathon that constitutes the college football calendar offers no room for vacations. National Signing Day occurred just a week ago, but already college programs across the country are gearing up for spring practice. College football fans have just stopped debating which five-star prospects will sign where. Now they can debate who will have the early advantage in competitions for starting positions in the fall. Who's going to be throwing passes for Notre Dame? Who's going to be catching passes at Southern California? Can Florida quarterback Tim Tebow throw as well as he runs? Although those questions won't be answered until fall, spring practice at least can offer us some clues. Rivals.com begins its exhaustive coverage of spring practice by breaking down each of the schools that finished last season among the top 25 teams in the final Associated Press poll. We have selected the top returning player at each of those schools while also identifying a player on the verge and an impact newcomer. Our "player on the verge" is someone who should deliver a breakthrough performance this fall even though he may have spent most of last season outside the starting lineup. The impact newcomer is a true freshman, redshirt freshman or transfer student who should earn immediate playing time. In at least a few instances, our impact newcomer is someone who won't arrive on campus until after spring practice. We also have provided the biggest question each team must answer as it prepares to kick off the 2007 season.
