I'm 100% orange.. But I got there a little different then most. My father played football at Kingston High school and was an All American, Then he went and played at UK because Coach Dickey told him he was to small to play in the SEC. Well UK wanted him so he went and he played. He even has a game ball from a game he played against UT in ‘67. UT won the game but my father got a game ball for his efforts as a safety. I was born in the small town of Corbin KY. In ’69 and well as I’m sure you can understand I was brought up a UK fan. Yes Dad held a pretty good grudge.. Now we moved back to TN when I was young and I grew up with allot of UT fans. As I started playing football myself I was introduced to UT football by a fellow friend and teammate when I was 12. “1981” and from that point on I snuck behind my parents back and pulled for UT. Well during football season anyways. When I got to high school I told my parents that I had a goal to be a Tennessee Vol and ware the Orange. I’m not going to say that dad liked the idea but he accepted it and pushed me to work hard to achieve it. However I was not blessed with my fathers speed, so high school was as far as I got. I considered walking on at UT as my girlfriend at the time went on to school there, but the cost was to much for us. As time has gone on and with the help of one Peyton Manning my parents have come around and will even watch a UT game with me. But when they play UK or when it’s basketball season I’m on my own. I have been to several games and try to make it to at least one a year. My wife and daughter are both huge Vol fans with me and my daughter even has her own goal to play Volleyball for the VOLS… wish her luck!
