Vols prep for New Orleans

With nearly a full week off to prepare for their opening game in the SEC Tournament on Friday Tennessee's players got a much-needed couple days off. The Vols were back on the practice court on Tuesday, looking very much like a team intent on keeping the momentum of an 8-2 close to the regular season rolling into New Orleans.

Tennessee (19-13, 10-6) opens up on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. EST against the winner of the Ole Miss/Auburn contest on Thursday.

With no specific scouting report to focus on Cuonzo Martin was glad to take the opportunity on Thursday to take a rare step back at this time of year and focus on tightening the screws of his own ship.

"It's great for their legs to have a couple of days off right now. From a coaching standpoint we're able to watch film with guys, have some individual time with them. It's all about Tennessee right now," Martin said of the work the Vols will get in before Wednesday's evening's departure for New Orleans.

"We'll go a little longer today (Tuesday) after being off. We'll work on skill development, focus on little things, look at our defensive principles and just get back to some basics."

While the Vols won't learn who they'll face in New Orleans until Thursday night, they did learn today how the rest of the league viewed their personnel with the announcement of the Coaches' All-SEC team.
