Vols look to keep building
Tennessee's 2011-12 basketball campaign was a wild one to say the least. Back in December the Vols looked like like they had the potential to be one of the worst teams in the SEC. Which is exactly where the pre-season prognosticators placed them. The second half of the season saw the Vols turn the tables on those predictions, finishing the year in second place in the league standings.
The fact that the run ended in unceremonious fashion on Monday night in a late-game meltdown against MTSU will knock a little bit of shine off of the season in the short-term. Once that disappointment wears off though, there should be a little optimism left over for next year.
No one in the Tennessee locker room was overly interested in looking towards the future in the immediate aftermath of the Vols', understandable on the heels of watching their season end as the result of a 15-0 MTSU run in the final 7:11 of the year.
However, it doesn't take any back-breaking research to glance over the Vols' roster and note that outside of senior Cameron Tatum, who was wildly inconsistent this season, that Tennessee is losing very little from a 19-14 squad that was the surprise of the SEC.
