Opportunity knocks at WR, Couch at the nose

With Justin Hunter limited this spring and a transfer to replace the Vols' wide receiver corps was already a place where a young receiver could find plenty of reps. That became even more true on Thursday when the drama that has followed Da'rick Rogers all offseason popped up again, this time leading to his absence from the practice field.

How long that absence lasts is up in the air at the moment, Derek Dooley indicated the door was open for the junior wideout to return, possibly even quickly. For the time being however, the chance for an aspiring wideout to make a strong impression has never been better.

"We just come out to practice and give all we can to the team and focus on doing our jobs. That's all I can say," Vincent Dallas said of the impact Rogers' absence had on the wide receiver position to day.

Dallas and senior Zach Rogers saw their workload increase dramatically without Rogers on the field today. Hunter has gamely gone through practice all week as he recovers from ACL surgery, but those two are currently the only scholarship receivers on the roster with any game experience at the position.
