Orta wants to make the right decision
Three-star safety Geraldo Orta now understands what a commitment means.
The six-foot, 180-pounder from Valdosta, Ga., pledged his services to Clemson over the summer only to backtrack only a few weeks later. That experience taught Orta a valuable lesson about the recruiting process and will use his newfound knowledge to help make his final decision.
"Really I want to make a decision now," Orta said. "I'm tired of the exposure and stuff but I'm probably going to wait for now. I want to make the right decision and not just one that's forcefully made and have to back out of that decision again. I don't want to do that. I want to go ahead and get with a team and stick with them too."
Orta has offers from Clemson, Louisville, Maryland, Mississippi State, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Florida, Southern Miss, Tennessee, Central Florida and Wake Forest.
Of that list, Orta has three schools sticking out in Tennessee, Clemson and South Carolina.
"Those are really the only schools that I have visited," Orta said. "Until I visit a lot more schools I'm really not going to put favorites or nothing like that."
Orta made a visit over the summer to Mississippi State to one of the Bulldogs camps in June. Orta practiced at Davis Wade Stadium for head coach Dan Mullen and built a relationship that has continued.
