Barton talks Tennessee decision

It may be Memorial Day weekend, but Cuonzo Martin was still putting in work on behalf of the Tennessee basketball program. The Vols landed a big commitment early Sunday afternoon, snagging Memphis transfer Antonio Barton in a move that should provide immediate benefits on the floor.

Barton (6-foot-2, 178 pounds) is graduating in three years from Memphis, and per NCAA rules can transfer without sitting out the customary one season before becoming eligible.

His situation perfectly compliments Tennessee's desperate need for point guard help in the wake of Trae Golden's unexpected departure from the squad due to academics.

In leaving Memphis, Barton was obviously looking for a spot where he could make a splash with his one remaining year in college. He feels like he's found that spot in Knoxville.
