Vols hold on for first win of season

Tennessee (1-1) got pushed by visiting USC-Upstate (1-2) before grinding out a 74-65 win. The Vols trailed by as many as 13 points in the game but used a huge run and some stingy defense in the second half to avoid the upset.

The Vols had their hands full for much of the evening, trailing 42-35 at the half and by eight points with under 13 minutes left in the game.

A dominant stretch to close things out turned the tables in Tennessee's favor, though USC-Upstate never entirely went away.

"I thought Jarnell and Jeronne did a good job rebounding, first time they both had a double-double in the same game. They did a great job crashing the glass," Martin said of the keys to victory.
