McRae's big night sparks Vols, notes

Jordan McRae remembered the feeling of letting a win at home slip out of his hands.

It happened earlier this season against Texas A&M. He wasn't going to let it happen Wednesday night against Arkansas.

McRae scored 24 of his season-high 34 points in the second half and accounted for Tennessee's final 13 points to help the Vols hold off Arkansas in a 81-74 win at Thompson-Boling Arena.

"I know we were up, and that two minutes went by pretty slow," McRae said of the closing minutes. "You don't want them to hit shots.

"I really wanted the ball at the end of the game. Especially when I knew they were fouling."

Tennessee missed foul shots in the closing minutes against A&M on Jan. 11, and the Aggies hit a 3 with 4.4 seconds left to steal a win. A desperation shot came up short for McRae in that game.
