Jones talks quarterbacks, standards, strength and more

Butch Jones cannot sleep.

He is a super-charged bundle of energy and nerves, no wing-inducing energy drink needed. So it is way before sunrise, before even 5 a.m., actually, and Jones already is in his posh UT office. He will not leave, most days, until 10 p.m. pushes near 11. Sometimes closer to midnight.

Tennessee's second-year coach, he of 20-hour days and a travel schedule that even Travelocity's gnome can't keep, is preparing for another crazy weekend. There's a posh dinner Friday night to raise funds for Tennessee scholarships and spotlight the athletics program; there's a junior day Saturday that is the type of oxygen that any program endeavoring to return to SEC glory must breathe in every opportunity it gets; and there's soon another trip to the Midstate, because Jones clearly is seeking dual-citizenship in the state's second-most important area to him aside from Rocky Top.
