Wharton proving a fast learner

Like most every other spot on the Tennessee roster, the wide receiver position has undergone a major facelift over the course of the past year. Thanks to the addition of some promising talent along with player development among the veterans, a position that was a source of frustration in 2013 could be a strength this season.

One of the new faces that's bolstered the position with his arrival is freshman Vic Wharton.

A quick, instinctive player with some wiggle in his game, Wharton is trying to carve out a role for himself in what is suddenly a highly competitive Tennessee receiving corps. Most of his early work has come in the slot to this point, and he seems to have a natural feel and some desirable skills for the position.

It's early, but Wharton is one of the freshmen who has impressed Butch Jones, and not just with his physical skills.
