Randolph grabs one pick, Jones wants more

After Saturday night's full-scale scrimmage inside Neyland Stadium Butch Jones seemed to have seen just enough positives from his football team to be encouraged about the direction things are headed, while at the same time, seeing more than enough problems to feel that there's still plenty of work to be done before kickoff.

On the positive side, the defense forced a couple of turnovers--one interception and a fumble on the goal line--and also limited what Jones likes to refer to as the 'splash plays,' gains of 20 yards or more for the offense.

Safety Brian Randolph helped get the defense off on the right foot when he picked off Justin Worley on the first play of the night, after nickleback Justin Coleman tipped the pass into the air.

"It was the first play of the scrimmage. It kind of set the tone for the defense," Randolph said of his play. We were in cover-three and it turned into man-to-man. Justin Coleman had his guy and made a great play to break up the pass and it just fell right into my hands."
