Defense Held Back, More O&W Notes
Spring practice came to a close with this afternoon's Orange & White game, a contest 'won' by the Orange team (or offense) 41-23. As always with the spring game the final score is of dubious value in assessing the performance. That's even more true than usual today given that for one of the few times all spring the final score suggested that the offense left the field with the upper hand.
The stat sheet showed that the offense racked up 679 total yards and scored five touchdowns on the day. The kind of numbers that hint at a rough day for the defense.
According to Lane Kiffin though, the old adage about statistics being fallible applied to today's stats.
Kiffin was pleased with what he saw from the offense for the most part, but he was exceedingly quick to point out that the Tennessee defense was handcuffed to a large degree, making the kind of day the offense had more than al ittle expected from the coaches' standpoint.
