Prevot is one of the country's hottest prospects

Speed. It is what every college coach is looking for. It is also what has drawn college coaches to Taylor High School in Alief, Texas on the southwest side of Houston.

You name the school and most likely it has sent representatives to practice. Tuesday saw Alabama, Texas Tech, Colorado and Kansas. On Monday it was Texas. Before that it was Oregon and Oklahoma. It has literally been a who's who of college football.

Why? Torrodney Prevot. 6-foot-4, 220-pound, 4.6 40 running, 12-sack and 18-TFL tallying Torrodney Prevot.

Even though practice was bumped up due to weather concerns, coaches were lining up to get a look at the standout as practice kicked off. As I walked up it took about five seconds to figure out where the defensive line was going through drills and like everyone else, I joined the crowd.

Prevot has noticed the attention.

"It's been pretty packed," Prevot said. "Every day I see a new coach and different college coaches and conferences and everything. Like Oregon, LSU, Texas, A&M, everything. Oklahoma St., Oklahoma, everybody really."

For some, the attention could be distracting, but not Prevot. In fact he has embraced it, as have his teammates.

"It's very good motivation for the team," he said. "They start moving around faster. You see them picking it up more when they see more coaches."

Prevot has some Louisiana roots, but growing up burnt orange was his favorite color.

"I really liked Texas growing up. They were one of the top programs," Prevot said. "They kept winning and winning and winning. I was like 'Oh my God you guys are good.'"

When it comes to the recruiting process, Prevot is keeping an open mind and plans to wait until he has had a chance to take his visits this fall before he makes a decision.

"I don't know right now, but LSU, Texas and A&M - I keep in contact with them and those are the three schools I've already visited," Prevot said. "I haven't been anywhere else right now so I'll be trying to go more places to try and get a view of everybody. I'm wide open."

The summer schedule is already filling up. Prevot plans to attend the Texas camp on June 3 and mentioned he would also like to attend camps at LSU, Florida, Miami and Texas A&M. This weekend he hopes to visit Texas but that trip is still very much up in the air.

In the fall, he already has an official visit scheduled to Oregon on October 5.

"I talked to (an Oregon coach) on the phone and after they offered he was like, 'When can we setup a visit for you to come down?," Prevot said. "I said our open week is October 5 and we just planned from there."

Before he worries about all that, Prevot knows there is work to be done and he is focused doing what needs to be done at Alief Taylor.

While Prevot has attracted attention from across the country, he is not the only one. Teammates Trevorris Johnson, Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, Jonathan Wiggins, Keenen Brown and Chris Hardeman have all received Division I scholarship offers.
