Demarcus Croaker commits to Texas
Demarcus Croaker. When the Longhorns set their goals for the 2013 recruiting class, one of their objectives was to add a combo guard that excelled at scoring but could also handle the basketball. After a long process that saw him list Texas as a leader at one point, commit to Murray State and finally visit Texas officially just recently, the Horns got the guy they were looking for in Jones High School (Orlando, Florida) combo guard
After his official visit to Texas for its big Monday win over Baylor on March 4, the 6-4 guard wasn't shy about his love for Texas.
"Yeah, they're still the lead school definitely," Croaker told Orangebloods.com after the visit. "I'm looking to make a decision soon. I'm going to talk to my mom about it and everything. I'm not sure. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe Friday. Maybe early next week, I don't know for sure. I'll make a decision soon."
It was just a matter of time. Behind the scenes, it was clear where Croaker would ultimately end up, and on Tuesday, he made it official.
"Yes I did," responded Croaker via text about making his Texas commitment.
At 6-4, the newest UT commitment is known for his all-around scoring ability, which includes deep, beyond the arc range, the ability to slash, a mid-range game, and the ability to play above the rim. He elevates very well during his jump shot, and Rick Barnes told Croaker that his release at the end of his jumper reminds him of Michael Jordan's touch and release as a shooter.
Recently, a lot of new schools have been showing interest in the talented guard including Ole Miss, Missouri, and Baylor.
