BREAKING: Tennessee adds dynamic blue-chip RB to 2018 class

Fresh off a recent “amazing visit” to Tennessee last weekend, Jashaun Corbin decided he didn’t need to extend his recruitment any longer.

He'd seen enough.

"It's great to be on Rocky Top," Corbin said in a direct message with Volquest. "I'm looking forward to getting more talent (this weekend and the future)."

After touring more than half a dozen schools over spring break last week, the 4-star tailback from Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy (Fla.) committed to the Vols on Friday, returning to town for the Orange and White Game on Saturday. His relationship with tailbacks coach Robert Gillespie was a key factor in his decision.

“I love going up there just visiting. I have a great relationship with all the staff up there,” Corbin told Volquest on Monday.

“It’s just a place that when I first went up there I just loved it. Tennessee has always been one of my favorite schools. Me and coach G have a really great relationship. We’re really close. I feel comfortable just being myself around him, same with coach (Butch) Jones.”

Corbin becomes the fifth member of Tennessee's 2018 class, joining 5-star Cade Mays, 4-star Alontae Taylor, 3-star Ollie Lane and 3-star Shatar McClay.

Corbin, who visited South Carolina, Clemson, Florida State, Florida, Auburn and UT last week, picked the Vols over more than 25 offers. The versatile playmaker racked up more than 1,900 all-purpose yards for the Tigers as a junior, leading the team in rushing (1,100 yards), receiving (619 yards) and return yardage. He scored 19 total touchdowns as an all-around offensive weapon, and was sold on Tennessee’s pitch to slide into the Alvin Kamara role in the offense.

“They want to use me the exact same was as they use Alvin Kamara, but more,” he said. “My skill-set is very similar to his, catching, returning punts and running the ball. Doing many things to help the offense be successful.”
