Having known for about a month, Gurley, Alabama linebacker Matthew Flint was finally ready to pull the trigger. His college choice was as clear to him now as it's ever been. And on what is his last first day of high school, Flint woke up dialed up Tennessee head coach Butch Jones and committed to Tennessee.

"It was my last first day of high school and I think that is cool," Flint said. "I just fit in with he coaching staff. I've been going up there since my sophomore year. Coach Thigpen made me go harder because he didn't offer me my sophomore year he made me driven to earn that offer."

It wasn't your normal phone call. It was a FaceTime call to Jones and Flint was all smiles seeing the top Vol all smiles.

"We talk every day and it's a morning ritual," Flint said. "I got him on the phone with FaceTime and he got that big smile and he walked right in the meeting room. It was a good day for everyone. Coach Thig propped his feet up on the desk because it's a good day."

Flint was in town last month for Orange Carpet Day, it was shortly after that trip that Tennessee became evident to him. He loved the way Tennessee recruited him and his entire family. It's something that stuck with him and hit him hard.

"It's a family atmosphere," Flint said. "Everybody brings their family and they have their kids and wives up there. It's just neat to see that side of the coaches. They will be my family the next three or four years. It's going to be everyday. That's who you are going home with, fighting with on the field. If they take care of their family then they will take care of you."

Flint says he Vols are recruiting him to play weak side linebacker. He brings a lot to the table, but most of all, he brings one thing.

"I think I bring speed," Flint said. "I don't think there is another linebacker moving better than me in the country. I'm a leader and I'm coachable. Naturally people on your team are going to follow behind that."

Flint headed off to his last first say of high school this morning with one message.

"I'm glad it's over," Flint said. "I just want to tell everyone Go Vols and I'm ready to do it DAT way."
