Commitment Roundup: Penix, Grant each score three touchdowns

Here’s a look at how Tennessee’s commits fared on the field this week, including big games from quarterback Michael Penix Jr., tailback Anthony Grant and athlete Alontae Taylor.

Tennessee's southpaw quarterback commit completed 10-of-22 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-21 win over Bloomingdale.

Grant had just five carries on Friday night in a 56-0 win over Cedar Shoals, but the tailback scored three touchdowns on those carries. Grant scored on runs of 7, 5 and 1 yard and also had a 50-yarder called back due to a penalty.

Mays had two sacks and three tackles for loss in just one quarter of action in a 62-28 win against Walker Valley.

Flint had nine tackles and one catch for 15 yards in a 40-7 loss to Madison Academy.

Lane and Gibbs fell to Halls 28-27.

Jones High beat Poinciana High School 60-3, as Cross had an interception.

Lawless had two tackles in Nashville Christian's 31-28 loss to Davidson Academy.

College of Canyons fells to Ventura 45-30, as Gerald finished with four tackles, 2 TFLs, 2 hurries, a pass breakup and half a sack in the loss.

Brooks was 2-for-2 on extra points, had one punt for 44 yards and put all three of his kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks.

Antonutti and Esnworth were off.

Jacques-Louis stats were unavailable, but Dunbar cruised to a 44-13 win over Cypress Lake.

Dean and Dutchtown won 24-17 over St. Amant.

Rome once again pitched another stout defensive effort, shutting out Cass High 49-0.

Taylor threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in a 56-21 loss to Riverdale.

Horn had four tackles and a PBU on Friday night in a 36-7 win before visiting Alabama this weekend.

Warren caught three passes for 26 yards and had three tackles on defense in a win over Bearden.

With a makeup game for Hurricane Irma, Ingle had two games this week, recording double-digit stops and two forced fumbles in a 21-14 loss to Apopka. He had five tackles in a big win Friday.
