Tenenssee and Arkansas have already met in Fayetteville this year
May 15 - Game 1 (10-7, W):
Tennessee baseball took game one of its series at Arkansas and it didn't have to pitch Liam Doyle.
Instead, with Marcus Phillips on the mound, the Vols downed the Razorbacks 10-7 in Fayetteville.
Giving Phillips proper run support was Dalton Bargo. He left the yard twice to put up a trio of RBI and two runs. Also leaving the yard was Dean Curley, his solo shot was a part of an impressive 3-for-4 day with two runs and an RBI.
Cannon Peebles homered late in the game, as well, to give Tennessee some insurance.
Phillips logged a positive start on the mound as he went 4.1 innings with seven hits, three earned runs, three walks and three strikeouts against Arkansas.
He was bumped up to the game one role with Doyle getting an extra day to make sure he has a full week of recovery on his blister. Doyle will pitch for the Vols on Friday in game two with a chance to take the series.
Behind Phillips, Dylan Loy came in and retired one batter before handing the ball over to AJ Russell. Russell went two full frames with two allowed hits, no runs, two walks and three strikeouts.
From there, it was Tanner Franklin and Nate Snead to finish things out. Snead ran into trouble in the eighth and allowed another to cross in the ninth, but held the lead intact and closed out the win.
May 16 - Game 2 (8-6, L):
Liam Doyle struck out 10 batters, but gave up 11 hits and three home runs as Arkansas evened its series with Tennessee with an 8-6 decision at Baum-Walker Stadium late Friday.
Doyle, the Vols' ace moved into a game two starting role, got off to a rare shaky start and Tennessee's bats were unable to overcome it after the Razorbacks took the lead for good in the fourth inning.
Doyle went 4.2 innings and was responsible for allowing all eight of Arkansas' runs. Relievers Austin Breedlove, Brandon Arvidson and Tanner Franklin combined to allow just two hits over the last 2.4 innings.
After the Vols put together their best hitting performance in weeks in a 10-7 win in Game 1 on Thursday, the Tennessee lineup totaled a game-best 14 hits, with Andrew Fischer going 3-of-5.
Cannon Peebles was 2-of-4 with two RBI and Levi Clark cut the Vols' deficit to two run with a two-run home run in the seventh. Tennessee put the tying run on base in the eighth and at the plate in the ninth, but couldn't take advantage.
Brent Iredale, Ryder Helfrick and Logan Maxwell each homered for Arkansas.
May 17 - Game 3 (8-4, L):
Tennessee baseball's struggles of closing out series has continued to close out the 2025 regular season.
The Vols took game one at Arkansas, but drop the series after a 8-4 loss to the Razorbacks on Saturday.
This marks a fifth-straight SEC series loss despite not being swept in any of the sets.
One of Tennessee's biggest issues remained leaving runners on base. The Vols stranded nine runners throughout the game.
This production at the plate, headlined by Andrew Fischer who went 3-for-4 with a home run, wasn't enough to make up for subpar pitching and play in the field.
Arkansas managed seven hits and took advantage of two errors from Tennessee to put up eight runs in the game. Tegan Kuhns started but had a mostly uncontrollable series of events go against him early before being pulled. He was pinned with four earned runs and five runs in his two-inning outing.
In relief, Austin Breedlove gave up a homer in his lone batter faced, Dylan Loy went an inning and allowed a run, Brayden Krenzel went 2.2 innings and allowed a run and Brandon Arvidson threw 2.1 innings without allowing a runner.
