Quick HiTs: Competition to start heats up

There was no shortage of fiery themes for Tennessee Wednesday on the practice field as the Vols did some wet work on Haslam Field in advance of Saturday's return home to Neyland Stadium against South Alabama.
Weather did ultimately force the Vols to do some work inside the Neyland-Thompson Sports Center.

With this a self-ascribed 'inferno' game, the Vols heard musical selections like 'You dropped a bomb on me!' and 'Bombs over Baghdad' as they worked toward the Jaguars (12:21 p.m., SEC TV).
Head coach Butch Jones continued to work mind games on his players in an effort to challenge them, specifically calling out A.J. Johnson, Dan McCullers and Woody Quinn.
The Vols also returned to the bull-ring drill early in practice as Jones bellowed "We're not soft! We're never going to be called soft. Tennessee is not a soft program!"
The highlights again included Dan McCullers with a dominant win over Alex Bullard. Michael Williams, back from shoulder injury and in the secondary rotation, also fared well against Paul Harris. Austin Sanders appeared to win against Jaylen Miller in yet another battle.
In green jerseys were: Riyahd Jones, Max Arnold, Johnathon Johnson, Cody Blanc, Drae Bowles, Vincent Dallas, John Propst, Brian Randolph, A.J. Branisel and Raiques Crump.
Jones also called out freshman wideout Ryan Jenkins, who has done limited individual work this week and then returned to the 'black hole' for conditioning.
"You're on the all-pit team, Ryan," Jones bellowed.
Justin Worley remained the Vols' starter at quarterback, and the secondary continued with a new look that featured Justin Coleman at nickel and Cam Sutton and Michael Williams at corner. Jacques Smith and Corey Vereen continue to battle at one end spot.
