Vols add 4-star wideout

Over the last 36 hours, Tennessee has added quite a bit of speed and athleticism to its commitment list, first in the form of athlete CJ Cotman on Wednesday night and then again on Thursday night with the addition of Mississippi wide receiver Jordan Murphy.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound wide receiver from Hattiesburg, Miss., chose the Vols Thursday while visiting Knoxville and credited his relationships with running backs coach, and Mississippi native, Robert Gillespie and wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni.

"The first time I came up here I was introduced to coach Z and coach Gillespie and then they introduced me to Butch Jones," Murphy said. "Ever since then I've been interested in Tennessee."

Murphy admitted he knew heading into his trip to Knoxville that this visit would be crucial and a commitment was likely as he even hinted it to Azzanni.

"I told coach Z before I came up here that I wanted to (commit) and that I like Tennessee and I liked how he coaches and I want him to coach me as a receiver," Murphy said. "I have a good vibe with coach Z. We connect really good."

Besides playing for Azzanni, Murphy said he likes that Tennessee's staff has Gillespie, also a native of Hattiesburg, and he feels like he will have someone watching out for him.

"That's good because he knows what I've been through and how our school is and how I will be able to catch on to more if I ask him to help," Murphy said.

Murphy added that he doesn't plan on taking other official visits and will instead turn his attention to helping the Vols in their pursuit of Cam Akers.
