Vols land Atlanta defensive end

After visiting Rocky Top for the Vols junior day 10 days ago, Atlanta, Georgia defensive end Marquez Bembry has committed to the Vols.

Bembry announced his commitment via Twitter late Monday night. The 6-foot-3, 210 pound defensive end left Knoxville impressed and challenged by what he saw from the Vols.

"The visit went great," Bembry said of his second trip to Knoxville. "I got to see some things that I didn't get to see during the summer. It's a great environment to come and be a part of something with other great athletes. I was really impressed by the Peyton Manning room. How they have the stuff from his record setting touchdown pass. They had his jersey, cleats and gloves. When you see that you get motivated."

In leaving Knoxville, Bembry said he was in no rush to make a decision wanting to visit several other places this summer. Monday night, Bembry simply didn't want to wait any longer.

“I want to be a part of something big,” Bembry said. “When you are there and you are around the coaches, players and everything that Tennessee offers, you just want to be a part of it. I want to be a part of what is happening at Tennessee.”

Bembry knows he must add weight, but veteran Steve Stripling's resume of developing defensive linemen was another key to Bembry being a Vol.

Rivals.com ranks Bembry a 3-star defensive end.
