WR signee Cedric Tillman comfortable in first trip to his future school

Reviewing the recruitment of Tennessee signee Cedric Tillman, the wide receiver did things backwards.

Tillman signed with the Vols on National Signing Day having never seen Tennessee's campus and having never met a Vol coach face-to-face.

This weekend, the signee officially visited what will be his college home come June.

“I loved it. It was all good. I wasn't nervous. Right away it felt like home,” Tillman said.

“Believe it or not, it was exactly how I thought it would be. They treated me like family.”

The 6-3, 212-pound receiver hung out with a lot of the Vols over the weekend, but spent the most time with sophomore receiver Marquez Callaway.

“I was very comfortable from the moment I arrived,” Tillman said.

“I wasn't nervous about the visit but I was a little nervous meeting coach Pruitt. We talked a lot today and really started building our relationship. They feel like I can help them quickly and I know they are going to make me a better player and person.”

Tillman has mostly talked to offensive coordinator Tyson Helton since the Vols first called on the final weekend before signing day. Tillman and Helton got plenty of time together this weekend, as the two finally put a face with a name.

“Coach Helton is my guy,” Tillman said. “We sat together at all the dinners all weekend. We watched a lot of cut up's today. We have talked a lot about how they would use me but it was good to get to see it. It was real good to see it face to face and see how I would fit in.”

Tillman leaves Knoxville with no decision to make. He only leaves waiting on the time to pass to return to Knoxville to move in. Tillman, who visited this weekend with his father, said the hope is to be back for the spring game in April before moving to Rocky Top this summer.

As Tillman heads back to Vegas, he said he was reassured of one thing: That Tennessee is the right place for him.

“It was real cray,” Tillman recalled of the Sunday offer and Wednesday signing nearly a month ago.

“There was no regrets in signing having never been there. A lot of people wondered why I would go there without seeing it. I just knew after talking to the coaches that Tennessee was the right place for me and this weekend reaffirmed it.”
